DISUR: Collaborator with the Institute of Statistics of Puerto Rico
DISUR, represented by David Southgate, Administrator of Projects and Databases, was a special guest at the First Meeting of the Coordination Committee of Statistics of the Institute of Statistics of Puerto Rico. The meeting was held March 26, 2010 in the Office of the Controller of Puerto Rico and attended by representatives of various agencies of the Government of Puerto Rico who are responsible for data collection and statistical reporting.
Dr. Mario Marazzi, Director of the Institute, gave an ex-officio position for DISUR in the Statistics Committee and agreed to develop a collaborative effort between the two entities to advance the process of collecting and reporting statistics in the Southern Region Puerto Rico. He explained that the Institute has a duty to prepare the Inventory of Statistics of Puerto Rico, which must describe all the important statistical reports that government agencies produce or plan to produce. This year the Institute is planning to prepare the inventory for the first time.
DISUR is committed to support the Institute and secure the cooperation of the 15 municipalities of the Southern Region in fulfilling this mission to produce a statistical inventory.
