Strategic Alliances: Economic Development and Alliances

DISUR signed a collaboration agreement with the Multisectoral Alliance of Buyers and Suppliers and Techno-Economic Corridor of Puerto Rico (PRTEC) February 10, 2010. The event was held at the Bodega de Mendez in Ponce, during an activity of the Medical Devices Cluster, with participation from Hon. Ponce Mayor Maria M. Melendez Altieri, keynote speaker talking about the advantages of the Port of the Americas for the global supply chain and as a strategic project for the economic development of the South Region and Puerto Rico. Among the objectives of the agreement signed between the three organizations are pursuing the "vision" to promote Puerto Rico as the distribution hub or hub of the Americas and make the Port of the Americas a distribution model that incorporates this vision. Also proposed were the groups' participation in activities such as Latin American Supply Chain Expo and the team for Innovation of the Multisectoral Alliance of Buyers and Suppliers in order to help develop innovative business models which provide a platform from which to replicate concepts, methodologies and best practices that entrepreneurs can use successfully in the supply chain to and from Puerto Rico.
