AGRO-TOURISM ROUTE

Agro-Tourism Route is a strategic agritourism project in the southern region of Puerto Rico, which will include the municipalities of Salinas, Santa Isabel, Juana Diaz and Ponce, along road PR # 1.The purpose is to provide a tourist experience, educate the public about the importance of agriculture, and promote sustainable development of small and medium-sized agribusinesses in the area. This area has farms organized commercially in the planting of products, such as vegetables and ornamental plants. Beef cattle are also raised in the area. The route will feature informative signage located at strategic points. It will include accommodation in small inns, offer opportunities to buy fresh produce and observe agricultural activities. The project aims to make the agricultural industry an engine for economic development, promote domestic and international tourism for the enjoyment of traditional places with significant historical and cultural value, encourage the use of locally produced agricultural products, stimulate young people's knowledge about agriculture, promote educational tourism to learn about the biodiversity of the area, stimulate new business alternatives for farmers and communities in the area, and promote the export of products.
