About Us – DISUR (The Alliance for the Comprehensive Development of South Puerto Rico)

The Alliance for Comprehensive Development of the South (DISUR in its Spanish initials) is a private non-profit corporation organized under the laws of Puerto Rico since June 6, 2006. Its strategic intent is to promote prosperity, create a better quality of life for people in the region and to promote and maximize the competitiveness and sustainable socioeconomic development of the Southern Region of Puerto Rico, integrating efforts and resources from public, private and academic sectors, and also area communities.

Strategic Alliances: Economic Development and Alliances

DISUR signed a collaboration agreement with the Multisectoral Alliance of Buyers and Suppliers and Techno-Economic Corridor of Puerto Rico (PRTEC) February 10, 2010. The event was held at the Bodega de Mendez in Ponce, during an activity of the Medical Devices Cluster, with participation from Hon. Ponce Mayor Maria M. Melendez Altieri, keynote speaker talking about the advantages of the Port of the Americas for the global supply chain and as a strategic project for the economic development of the South Region and Puerto Rico.

Second Report and Working Paper of DISUR

This working paper to be used for developing the Strategic Plan for the socioeconomic development of the South is the result of an unprecedented cooperative effort of universities in the South Region of Puerto Rico.
